Hub | 2013
The project is inspired by straddle carriers, which easily can elevate extremely heavy ship containers and maneuver them rapidly through the port. Hub adopts this principle by raising and lowering the passenger cabin and facilitates hereby the entry and exit of its passengers. A freely suspended passenger cabin, inside the constructively independent vehicle frame, can be lowered to curb height at the bus stop within a few seconds. The panoramic windows offer plenty of daylight and allow an unobstructed view of the surroundings. In combination with the seemingly floating seats, they create an open and inviting atmosphere.
Hub uses two electric motors on each axle. In combination with the individually steerable wheels the bus can move effortlessly and efficiently through the narrow urban traffic.
